Every now and then I cruise the Red Rocks concert line-up to see what i’m missing out on. It always seems like a good idea at the time, never afterwards when you are no closer to getting there.
Red Rocks Amphitheatre, if you aren’t already ‘in the know’, is a natural rock formation in Colorado, where concerts are performed in the open-air. More than the majority of the current amphitheatre surroundings are of the earth’s original formation, although from what i’m told, there was minor construction in the 1940’s to maximise it’s use. Today, the theatre can accommodate up to nearly 10 000 people. If this is not enough to get you all revved up, historical performances include acts from the likes of Sonny and Cher andThe Beatles.
Anyway, the point of this is not to provide a lesson about American history, rather to point out that if you didn’t already know about this, it’s about time you did. I just had a look at the 2012 line-up. Not only will there be appearances from Foster the People at the beginning of July, but there will also be a gig performed by The Fray in the middle of May. Enough said.
This warrants a visit at some point in my lifetime.
